This is an abandoned monastery in the outskirts of the city of Prome (Pyay) in Myanmar. History has it that a beautiful princess who was to marry a king died of a broken heart. The king was led to believe by his jealous consorts that the princess was an ogre; initially believing to be true, the princess was foresaken. When the truth was discovered that she was more beautiful than words could describe, the king was too late. He built her a tomb on the spot where this relic monastery stands. Unrequited love …
